Change is Good

Some time back the renowned telecom company Hutch changed hand and very recently their new owners named it as Vodafone. In all the promos they highlihted the change of name but kepping our very dear Pug the same. The promos said "Change is good" is it really so!

If you ask me I will also say that yes change is good, either way! It gives us a opportunity to access ourself's in backdrop of the past. If you happen to read 'Discovery of India' while introducing the subject Nehru tried his best to simplify the complex relatioship between past and future with present as point of reference. He says Past is backward extension of Present whereas future is forward extension, somehow my management friends can corrrelate the same to backward and forward integration of existing business processes.

Change is welcome except in organizational context, because it always resisted there. My firm belief is that we mostly change for betterment unless otheriwse forced. But how to make change interesting is always been a chalange for organizations, but I wonder the same is not true for the changes induced by individual. Somewhere there lies our solution to our change processes and OD exercises. It is a challenge for we HR managers to re-allign and re-engineer the change process and mechanism.

Think about it!

Well,
Change is definitely good, but for that matter it would also mean the ability and capacity of the individual to carve out or bring good for itself.Yeah, we may say, change definitely gives one new avenues and opportunities to work on that which brings good. But change does not mean shedding one's past to embrace/ accept the new. It can mean a thoughtful process involving moving ahead along with your past to something new. Change cannot be brought overnight, it is an onward/ continuous process which take its own course with time.
