The year 2+0+0+7 to 2007: Philosophy of Life

Only a day is left to bid-adieu to the year 2007, been an interesting and fascinating year for me. When the year began I thought about the numerals it contains. The sum of numerals became 9 which was my lucky number by the time and I presumed a lot of favourable things that may happen in my life. By the beginning of the year I was planning to further my education by joining any premier Management Institute of India and once again going for a MBA Degree and this time as Finance my major. The beginning was good, with average preparation in all subjects and a bit better in English with a new English teacher in our Institute, Ms Arunima. A lot of help came from her in honing my grammar skills so that my writings can be better. She being very good at basics those were my life’s best English classes. In addition she suggested few books which were supposed to help me in preparing my RC (Reading Comprehension) segment of CAT Exam. With due regards to her efforts and guidance I could not appear for the CAT exam because of certain reasons but one suggested reading of her changed my outlook towards life and its philosophy. A book called “Sophie’s World- A History of Philosophy” by Jostein Gaarder, did this magic.

Earlier I was very superstitious trying to correlate every thing that happened in and around me to something I have done or happened earlier. But now I am bit more rational and logical. Now I am an Agonostic; the belief the nature and existence of gods is unknown and cannot be known or proven. In other words I believe in God but not in any form or shape as we Hindus strongly do. It reminds me of some thoughts of a Geisha (A Japanese Courtesan) in the Book Memoirs of Geisha –Arthur Golden. Where she says … “We human beings are only a part of something very much larger. When we walk along, we may crush a beetle or simply cause a change in the air so that a fly ends up where it might never have gone otherwise. And if we think of the same example but with ourselves in the role of the insect, and the larger universe in the role we’ve just played, it’s perfectly clear that we’re affected every day by forces over which we have no control.”…

So that means most of thing that happens with us being controlled by someone very big which neither can be comprehend nor can be explained. However, there are many things which can be explained through a chain of events. You know what I think about all that we have discovered so far, just trying to emulate the ultimate creator or otherwise known as God. Just look around, you can see true colours of the world and our scientists spending crores in creating the same magic in our living room so that we can watch those colours even if we are not nearer to them (LCD TVs). In polar we have plenty of ice and our scientists just did that in our kitchens in form of a refrigerator. So whenever, we could break the nature’s formula into smaller and explainable logics we succeed. But these are only few steps to count, the opportunity is immense and we need to go at a faster rate but those should be only towards betterment of mankind.

So now I look towards the numbers 2007 as 2007 not as 9 or something else. Of course in the last few months few good things happened in my life and I think this is all because choosing right opportunity and utilising them in right direction to reach to the goal. Time will come and go but what it will leave behind is few thought to ponder; to learn from mistakes, to reinforce act where we delivered best and to relent from such practices which caused sufferings to others.

Believe in God but not in any act of miracle but try to untangle that mystery into few logical steps to clear smoke over it and to take your insights to the heights, never achieved before.
